Gold critters are the rare recolor of ordinary bugs and animals, and they turn up at a low rate whether you are net hunting or reeling one in. Most players sell the first one they find, because it is worth a lot. If you want this, keep it instead. In Journey Mode the cheap route is cans of worms, since a couple of those unlock duplication and gold worms fall out of them readily enough.

On The Constant, hunger drains on a timer and food is a real resource rather than a bonus. The duration means less time spent managing it, which is exactly what that seed makes expensive.

The tooltip puns on the chemical symbol for gold. The achievement art for it is drawn as beef wellington, steak wrapped in pastry, which has nothing to do with any of the critters that go into it.
