It is a rare gilded stand-in for the ordinary squirrel and it dies to almost anything, including a stray swing from you or an enemy wandering past. Clear the area, then approach with the net already in hand. A Lifeform Analyzer will call it out before you spot it, which saves a lot of squinting at treelines.

The sell value is tempting the first time you catch one, and it is the wrong call. This is one of the gold critters the Golden Delight needs, and that food is the best in the game. Losing one to a quick sale means going back out and waiting on a rare spawn again. Park it in a chest until the set is complete.

Run negative luck and this critter turns hostile. It is harmless in practice, but a squirrel charging you is a decent signal that something in your setup, usually a broken Torch God arrangement or a bad ladybug decision, has left your luck in the red.
