Mythril Waraxe

By the time mythril is piling up you are usually one mechanical boss away from a Drax or a Pickaxe Axe, which does this job and mining in a single inventory slot. If you want an axe right now, the chainsaw version of this tier is the more pleasant thing to hold, since it grinds through a trunk without a swing animation getting in the way. The waraxe only wins if you like the arc and the knockback, and nothing in Hardmode is going to die to an axe.

Several of the speed modifiers land on exactly the same result here once the game rounds them off, so paying the Goblin Tinkerer to chase the theoretical best one buys you a different word on the tooltip and nothing you will ever feel.
