Both clear the same trees at this tier and the difference is feel. The Orichalcum Chainsaw runs continuously while you hold the button, which suits flattening a forest. The axe swings instead, and it shoves hard enough to knock a slime off you while your hands are full of wood. Neither one is a weapon you should plan around.

Several of the modifiers that read as upgrades land on identical mining speed once the game rounds the number, so the reforge window will happily sell you the same tool twice. Take the first cheap roll that actually moves the speed and walk away from the Goblin Tinkerer.
