Most naturally generated walls leave a room open for enemies to appear in, which is why a cave you clear out refills while you are standing in it. This one does not. Anything backed by it counts as properly enclosed, so an underground cabin you stumble into is safe the moment you shut the door, and a room you line with the crafted version stays quiet.

That makes it worth stripping out of a cabin rather than walking past. Housing checks are picky about walls, and this is one you can collect by the hundred from a single structure without setting up a crafting chain for it first.
