Rotten Chunk

Nobody farms these for their own sake. They are the gate on Worm Food, which is how most players get their first world evil boss fight started on their own schedule, and later on the Mechanical Worm drags you back into the same Corruption tunnels for a second round. In between, the same pile turns into Leather, Battle Potions and a couple of oddities like the Coffin Minecart, so a stack in storage never goes stale.

A Crimson world has no Eaters of Souls to kill, which normally locks tanning out of the run entirely. A Corrupt Statue on a timer solves it: the enemies it spits out drop chunks like any others. Worth wiring up if you want leather goods without generating a second world to import from.

It calls the thing tasty and you cannot eat it. Monster Lasagna is the edible version, and the joke is probably that the chunks go into a summon for a giant worm instead of into your mouth.
