Rune Hat

Both pieces come off the Rune Wizard, and it always hands over the whole set, so a single kill finishes the collection. The problem is meeting one. It is a rare Underground spawn in Hardmode, which means this is a set you stumble into during normal caving rather than something you can plan an evening around.

Wearing both pieces puts a slow pulse around your character and trails orange and green sparks off your feet as you walk. The particles stay visible in total darkness without lighting anything around them, so the effect reads clearly in an unlit cave while doing nothing to help you see. It shows off far better in motion than standing still, which is unusual for vanity.

• Dye goes on your boots, not on the vanity pieces, if you want the trail in a different color.
• The robe hides your boots completely, so they vanish from your character even though their dye still drives the sparks.
• The hat leaves a small shadow under your icon on the minimap, the same quirk the Wizard Hat has.

That last one is not a coincidence. The hat is a recolor of the wizard version dropped by Tim, who fills much the same role earlier in a world. The difference matters if you are tempted to equip these in real armor slots: Tim's hat gives you something for the slot, and these two give you nothing at all.
