Sawtooth Shark

This is a chainsaw you pull out of the ocean well before Hardmode, and nothing else you can hold at that point chops as quickly. The catch odds are low enough that you will not stumble into one, so treat it as a reason to spend a morning on the coast with real bait and a decent rod rather than something to plan a run around.

Mechanical tools trade reach for speed. You stand closer to a trunk than you would with an axe and you clear it in fewer moments, which adds up fast on a tree farm. It swings quickly enough to work as a stopgap weapon too, though not one you would take into a fight that matters. The Axe of Regrowth beats it on convenience later; on raw speed it holds up for a long time.

It points at sawfish and sawsharks, real animals that carry rows of teeth along the sides of a long flat snout.
