Chop a tree and an acorn goes straight back into the ground without touching your own stock. On a dedicated tree farm that deletes the entire replanting pass, which is the slow part of running one. It also carries the herb gathering behavior of the Staff of Regrowth it is built from, so one tool covers wood and alchemy ingredients at the same time.
what it will not do
- Cacti, gem trees and giant glowing mushrooms leave nothing behind, since none of them grow from an acorn in the first place.
- Vanity trees come back as ordinary ones, so a sakura or willow grove has to be reseeded by hand if you want to keep the look.
- The extra herb yield only applies to mature plants you actually harvest with it.
which modifier
Two different rolls are worth chasing. Light makes it a faster harvester, Legendary makes it a passable early weapon. Most people want the fast one, because this stays in the toolbar deep into Hardmode purely for the replanting and almost never gets used as a sword.
