Throwing it clears timber. Anything wooden standing in the flight path comes down on the way out, and the return trip leaves whatever is left alone, so you get one pass per throw rather than two. Glowing mushroom stalks and gem trees fall to it as well. Cacti do not. Line it up along a treeline and you can strip a long stretch of forest without ever swinging an axe by hand.

That same behavior ruins your own tree farm the moment you start using it as a weapon near home. Keeping a Guide to Environmental Preservation in your inventory shuts the cutting off and leaves the boomerang working normally, which is the fix if you like the throw but want your saplings intact.

Getting one costs you an Axe of Regrowth, so decide whether you still want the axe before you drop it into Shimmer.

• The item exists because of a 2023 community event where players picked a side between the trees and the axes. It was handed out as a reward to the people who backed the axes.
• The blade shape follows a kukri, the curved Nepali knife often used for hacking through thick growth.
