Stardust Cell Staff
Summons a stardust cell to fight for you 'Cultivate the most beautiful cellular infection'
The stardust cell will fight for you
How to craft it
the damage builds instead of arriving
Each cell throws a homing blob that sticks to whatever it hits and starts eating it. Those attachments stack up to a cap, so your real output climbs the longer a single target survives under a full set of minions. Against a boss the opening seconds feel weak and then everything lands at once, which is the reverse of how most summons feel. Multiple cells hitting the same enemy do not compete for invincibility frames either, so the stack builds cleanly instead of flattening out.
it pays you for shooting the same thing
Cells throw in a bonus shot whenever you are personally landing hits on the target they are working. That extra round is weaker than a normal one and has its own cooldown, but over a long fight it is free damage you only collect by keeping your own weapon on the same target the minions are working. It will not trigger off other cell shots, off the trailing slashes from a Muramasa or Super Star Shooter, or off the projectiles that Chlorophyte, Titanium and Orichalcum armor throw for you. The hit has to come from your hand.
stay closer than feels safe
Cells teleport to targets at middle distance rather than flying the whole way, and they fire the instant they arrive. What breaks that rhythm is the leash. Drift far enough from your own minions and they abandon the attack and fly back to your side, which is the usual reason damage suddenly stops. There is a minimum too: they have to close inside a certain range before they will shoot at all. Fighting from the far corner of an arena costs more than the extra safety returns.
matchups
Everything it produces homes, and the shots keep tracking for several seconds before expiring, so misses are rare and the daytime Empress of Light is a strong pick. The same property works against you at the Lunatic Cultist, who takes reduced damage from homing projectiles, so it is a poor choice for repeat cultist kills. Against a scattered crowd the older Xeno Staff keeps pace, because its UFOs pick a fresh target the instant one dies while cells take a beat to reacquire. Shots cannot be reflected, which removes one common way for a fight to punish minion damage.
the debuff timer is misleading
The icon sits on the enemy long after the attachments that caused it have expired. Once the cells are gone the ticking stops even though the debuff still displays. Reapplication keeps the damage flowing, not the timer, and each attachment holds its own tick pace regardless of when it landed.
