how it improves on the plain version
A regular Dirt Bomb bounces and rolls, so half your throws end up detonating somewhere you did not aim. This one grips the first surface it touches and blows up there, which means you can hit a ceiling, a wall face, or a single block hanging in the air and know exactly where the crater will land. If whatever it stuck to gets removed first, it drops until it finds something else.
farming dirt with it
Do not throw it at the ground you are standing on. Place one lone block well above the surface, ten or more up, and stick the bomb to that instead. A single bomb thrown that way returns far more dirt than one detonated at your feet, and you are not left standing in a pit you have to climb out of.
