Used to craft
what it is for
This is a readout and nothing else. It tells you how fast you are actually moving, which matters when you are tuning a movement setup: comparing boots, checking whether a wing loadout is genuinely faster, working out what a stretch of track is worth. Outside of that it is a curiosity you carry because it costs you nothing.
how to carry it
It never needs an accessory slot. Sitting loose in your inventory or a Void Bag is enough, and a social slot works too if you want the look. In multiplayer the reading is shared with teammates standing near you, so one person carrying it covers the group.
reading it correctly
- On foot or in a minecart the number is horizontal speed only.
- Once you are off the ground it reports your total velocity in whatever direction you are going, which is why jumping makes it jump.
- Ropes and hoiks read as zero no matter how quickly you are actually traveling, so it cannot measure either of them.
