Bait is the real running cost of fishing and this trims it. Over a long session you get roughly one extra catch out of each piece before it disappears. That matters least with worms you can dig up by the hundred and most with the expensive high power bait you would rather not burn through.

Truffle Worms always vanish on use no matter what you are wearing, so this will not stretch your Duke Fishron summons. Gold Worms run on their own fixed consumption roll that the accessory does not touch either. Everything else in your bait box benefits.

The Angler hands it out as a quest reward, and he will not give you a second while one is already sitting in your inventory or a loadout. If you rolled the wrong fishing accessory first, Shimmer will trade between this, the High Test Fishing Line and the Angler Earring, which saves a lot of quest grinding. Later it folds into the Angler Tackle Bag, and the effects do not stack, so there is never a reason to wear both.
