The Breaker

Hammers knock out background walls and let you slope or halve a block. Neither job is exciting, but both come up constantly once you start building, and doing them with a starter hammer is slow enough to be annoying. This is the pre-Hardmode ceiling for that work if your world rolled the Corruption.

Demonite is tight early and the weapons made from it are better uses of the same bars. If the Eater of Worlds was generous, build it. If it was not, the plain metal hammers clear the same walls at a slower pace and cost you nothing you needed. The knockback is high enough to work as a panic swing when something corners you, but do not plan a fight around it.

Modifiers attach to the front of the whole name rather than the noun, so a good roll leaves you carrying something like Keen The Breaker. Every item whose name starts with an article has the same problem.
