Topaz Robe

Topaz is common enough that this robe is easy to make and easy to outgrow. It covers the body slot for a magic character who has nothing else, and there is no reason to keep wearing it once a better stone starts piling up. The defense gap across the robe family is narrow, so this is a slot filler, not a target.

Put a Wizard Hat on top for critical hits or a Magic Hat for a bigger mana pool. The crit version pays off with a weapon you can spam; the mana version pays off with something heavy that keeps draining you mid-fight. Your legs are unrestricted, so slot the best pants you own under either.

Any gem robe worn without the Wizard Hat multiplies how often Tim appears in the caverns, which is how you get his Magic Hat in the first place. After that, swap the hat on or take the robe off, or you will keep dragging him into every trip underground.
