Vampire Frog Staff
Summons a vampire frog to fight for you
The vampire frog will fight for you

how the frog fights
Your frog gets around by hopping, which makes it good at bullying anything that walks and close to useless against anything airborne. It will swim after a target instead of stopping at the water line, so flooded caves and ocean floors are fine hunting ground. Terrain is the real limit. Put one wall between the frog and what it wants and it will hop into that wall until the enemy comes to it.
do not stack two of them
Its hits run on a shared immunity timer, so one frog already sits at the ceiling that timer allows. Summoning a second mostly buys you better tracking on fast enemies, not more damage. Spend the rest of your slots on something that works differently, like a Finch Staff or a Flinx Staff, and let the frog cover the ground.
where it earns the slot
It arrives well ahead of the Hornet Staff and hits hard for that point in a run, especially with a Shark Tooth Necklace covering for its small per hit numbers against armored enemies. The Wall of Flesh is where it looks best: point it at the upper eye and the constant jump and fall drags the frog through both eyes and the mouth on the way back down.
the name
The design nods at a real animal, an endangered gliding frog from Vietnam that picked up the vampire label from the fangs on its tadpoles.
