Put all three pieces on and a small cloud of fireflies drifts around your character. It is a quiet effect rather than a showy one, and it is the reason the set is worth the Fireflies you spend catching. The insects take on whatever dye you put in the body slot, so the swarm can be recolored to match the rest of an outfit, which most particle effects tied to vanity will not let you do.

The hat's tooltip suggests it lights your way. It does not. Nothing around you gets any brighter. What actually happens is that the orb hanging off the back of the outfit stays visible however dark the area is, so you can always pick your own character out of an unlit cave or a crowded arena. Handy for keeping track of yourself, useless for spotting ore.

The outfit won a slot in the Journey's End vanity contest, submitted by a player going by crowflux, which explains the level of detail it carries compared to most cosmetic sets.

The names are real Japanese garments. A jingasa is the broad hat worn by foot soldiers and samurai, made from metal, bamboo or wood depending on rank. A yukata is a light cotton kimono for casual wear, the kind of thing worn to a summer festival. Geta are the raised wooden sandals that keep your feet clear of the ground. The fireflies in the recipe are a nod to Grave of the Fireflies, the 1988 animated film.
