Banner
Every 50th kill of this enemy drops Corite Banner.where you meet it
It only exists inside the solar pillar's area during the lunar events, which puts it after the Lunatic Cultist on the progression track. Nothing summons it and it appears nowhere else in the world, so the only way to fight one is to walk into that pillar's radius and stay there. Kill the pillar and the supply stops.
what it does to you
It is a flying charger that ignores terrain on the approach, wraps itself in fire and dives. The dive keeps accelerating for as long as it is running, so trying to outrun one in a straight line is a losing race. It travels through liquids too, so a water pit changes nothing. The dodge that works is a jump timed to the moment it arrives, because a sharp change in your position forces it into a curve it cannot hold.
Think of it as a Meteor Head that has been taken seriously. Same idea, far faster, and it hits hard enough that a few arriving together is a real emergency.
the solar pillar squeeze
Ground level is bad against these, because they spend most of the approach somewhere your melee cannot reach while they can always reach you. The obvious answer is to go up, and going up is what wakes the Crawltipede. That tension is the entire design of the solar pillar: you need enough mobility to keep dodging without ever spending long in the air.
Anything that leaves damage hanging in the air ahead of them works well, since they fly into it themselves. The Bubble Gun is the standard answer, fired early so the bubbles are already sitting on the approach line, and with enough critical strike chance behind it a corite dies before contact. The Spectre Mask is the usual partner for that.
if you last played an older version
They used to charge in from well off screen with no warning at all, which is where the pillar's reputation came from. They now telegraph the dive with a wind up, spawn at half the old rate and move slightly slower. It is a different fight from the one people remember complaining about.
