Ice Slime

It spawns around the snow biome during daylight, before Hardmode, and nothing summons it. Come back after dark and the snow has a different roster entirely, so if these are what you want on the ground, do it while the sun is up.

The hop is not the threat. Contact can leave you Chilled, and it does that on a surface that already gives you poor footing. Slowed to a crawl on ice with a drop nearby is how a harmless slime turns into a fall you did not plan. If you happen to be frozen solid already, it will not stack a chill on top of it.

Royal Gel makes the whole slime family ignore you, this one included, and if you are spending real time in the snow it removes an entire category of nuisance. Without it, carry something with a bit of reach rather than a weapon that asks you to walk into them.
