Every 50th kill of this enemy drops Snow Flinx Banner.

the spawn rule is backwards

A snow creature that avoids snow sounds wrong, and that is exactly how it works. Inside the ice biome it appears far more often on ground that is not snow, ice or thin ice, so a clean frozen cavern is close to the worst place to stand and wait. Step outside the biome and the rule inverts: down in the caverns it will then only spawn on those frozen blocks, and hardly ever. The best hunting is the ragged border where the game still counts you as being in the biome but there is plenty of bare stone and dirt underfoot. On a remix world the biome sits a layer higher, so look in the underground snow instead.

it weighs nothing

Almost any hit sends it tumbling backward end over end. Its knockback resistance is among the lowest of anything in the game, which makes it close to harmless once you have seen it coming, and makes the knockback focused weapons like the Slap Hand genuinely entertaining to use on one. It also cannot open doors. It will stand there hammering on a shut one indefinitely, so a walled base in the snow never has a flinx problem.

what you get out of them

Flinx Fur is the reason to make the trip at all. It feeds the Flinx Fur Coat and the Flinx Staff, which together are the earliest summoner kit a run can assemble, available before any boss is down. The Snowball Launcher shows up often enough to be worth watching for, and a Compass turns up occasionally if you still need one.

the resemblance

It looks a great deal like the Topi from Ice Climber, specifically the censored western sprite of that enemy, and also like the barbegazi, a bearded, big footed gnome out of Alpine folklore.
