How to craft it
Set bonus
The bonus applies while a full set is worn. Which one you get depends on the headpiece.
picking a head
Adamantite is a five-piece set: one body, one pair of legs, and three heads that decide which damage type you are playing. The head also decides the set bonus, so this is a build choice rather than a stat preference.
The Helmet speeds up melee swings and your movement, which favors weapons whose output comes from landing many hits rather than one big one. The Mask saves ammunition often enough that expensive rounds stop feeling precious, and that matters far more than a small damage figure once you are firing Chlorophyte Bullets or Holy Arrows. The Headgear cuts what your spells cost and widens the mana pool, letting a mage hold the fire button on a hungry weapon instead of drinking between casts.
against titanium
The two ores are the aggressive and the defensive answer to the same tier. Adamantite has better offense across all three specializations and, unusually for an original set, its head variants carry more defense than the Titanium equivalents. Titanium's dodge shield is what you are giving up, and that shield is worth more than the numbers suggest if you take a lot of contact hits. If you dodge well, take Adamantite. If you get clipped constantly, the shield will keep you alive longer than the extra damage will end fights.
mixing pieces
The complete set is rarely the strongest thing you can wear at this point. Melee and ranged players usually keep the Adamantite head, borrow a Frost Breastplate for the burn and the crit, and drop Mythril Greaves underneath. That costs you the set bonus, which is exactly why rangers have to decide how much the ammo saving is worth on their current loadout.
Magic is the one specialization where staying whole makes sense, since the mana reduction only exists with the full set and the defense is welcome. A player confident in dodging can instead run the Headgear over a Mystic Robe and Forbidden Treads and hit considerably harder with nothing to fall back on.
when to move on
Melee players can reasonably skip Hallowed on defense grounds, since Adamantite roughly matches it there and beats it on raw damage. Hallowed is still worth crafting for the Holy Protection dodge and because its bonuses apply to melee weapons generally rather than favoring swords and spears.
Rangers hang on much longer. Unless you are committing to one ammunition type, which is the only way Shroomite pays off, the Mask stays the best single head slot piece available for the rest of Hardmode.
