The stronger reason to keep one is what it turns into. It is a component in the Lightning Boots line, and that chain runs all the way up to the endgame movement accessories, so a spare in a chest is worth more than the slot it costs you. Jungle chests and jungle crates are both sources, which means fishing in the underground jungle is a dependable fallback if shrine hunting is going nowhere.
