Only the foot soldiers of a Pirate Invasion carry this. Deckhands, corsairs, deadeyes and crossbowers can each hand over a piece; the captain and the ship cannot, so an invasion you win by focusing the big targets is a wasted invasion for vanity purposes.

The odds per kill are thin and one event rarely completes all three. Since the invasion can be started on demand with a Pirate Map from ocean enemies in Hardmode, the sane approach is to bank a few maps, build a spot that funnels the ground troops into one place, and run the event back to back.

Bandana, tunic and pantaloons are social slot items with no effect on your character. They give you the deckhand look rather than the captain's, which is what the pirate hat side of the invasion drops already covers. The design started as a forum suggestion from Leinfors, who later worked on the game itself.
