Pirate Corsair

Corsairs turn up only inside a Pirate Invasion. No item calls one up on its own and they do not spawn between events, so the whole encounter runs on the event's terms. Once it starts they arrive in bulk and make up most of the melee half of the wave alongside the deckhands.

Running and jumping, nothing else. The jump is the part that wrecks arenas: a knee high lip of blocks will not hold one, and several will clear it together and land on the tile you were standing on. Build up instead of out. Anything that keeps them below you turns the melee crowd into a queue rather than a pile. They also hit harder than a deckhand, so when the wave is chewing through your health, these are usually the ones doing it.

• It swings a visible Cutlass and is no more likely to hand one over than any other pirate in the event.
• The name and the outfit borrow from the Barbary corsairs of the Mediterranean rather than the Caribbean look the rest of the invasion wears.
