Video Visage

The TV Head outfit is pure vanity, worn in the social slots for the look. What makes it worth assembling is the Video Visage, whose screen changes to match your situation. Step into the Corruption, the Crimson or a Graveyard and it switches off completely. Fall under a quarter of your health and the picture cuts to monochrome static. Go under a liquid and it turns deep blue and rolls vertically. Start a boss fight or an event and it scrolls sideways in flashing blue-green. Outside all of that it sits on a color test pattern.

During a Lantern Night or a Party, or any time you are standing in a town with at least three residents, the screen becomes a purple smiley. It blinks along with your character, closes its eyes when you sleep or when you are Tipsy, and reacts when you take damage. Because the face only shows up inside town limits, you can walk outward until it flips back to the test pattern and mark the exact line where town housing rules stop applying. That turns a cosmetic into a genuinely handy tool when you are laying out a base or trying to work out why something is spawning where it should not.

The pieces need Wire, which normally means waiting on the Mechanic. Shimmer gets around that: dropping Active Stone Blocks or explosives in will hand you the Wire, so the whole outfit is reachable well before Skeletron if you have found a Shimmer pool.

The visage stays visible in total darkness even though it casts no light of its own, the exception being the states where the screen is off. The set came out of the Journey's End vanity contest as a community submission, and unlike the other five it was never announced as a winner, surfacing only a day before the update that added it. Each piece quotes a different song in its tooltip: one from Lemon Demon, one from The Lorax, one from the Scissor Sisters. The Lazer Blazer and Pinstripe Pants finish the look.
