Two nuisance debuffs folded into one slot. Poison is the half you actually feel, since the Jungle and the Dungeon throw it at you constantly and it eats health you were saving for a boss. Bleeding turns up rarely enough that on its own it would never earn a place on your character.
where it sits in the chain
Nobody keeps this equipped for long. It is a step toward the Ankh Charm and then the Ankh Shield, which is the only endpoint anyone is aiming at. Treat it as bookkeeping and build it the moment both halves exist, so you are not hunting parts later while the shield sits one ingredient short.
getting it early
Shimmer changed the timing. Toss a Bezoar in and you get the Adhesive Bandage back, so both pieces can be in hand before you have broken a single altar.
