Broadswords without it are one click per swing, and the difference between holding the button down and hammering your mouse over a long fight is enormous. Whips get the same treatment on current versions, which quietly makes this one of the better summoner accessories available before Hardmode.

This is chest and crate loot rather than a drop. Ivy Chests sit inside Jungle Shrines and in the hollow room underneath a Living Mahogany Tree, and Jungle Crates come out of fishing the Jungle, which is the more dependable of the two if you have the patience for it.

It feeds the Power Glove and eventually the Fire Gauntlet, keeping the autoswing while stacking everything else the chain picks up along the way. The various glove accessories mostly add together, with the knockback and size bonuses being the exception, so wearing two of them gives you less than the tooltips suggest.
