Solar Flare Hamaxe

A hamaxe hammers and chops from a single inventory slot, and that convenience is most of the argument for carrying one this late. Its hammer power ties for the best available, so nothing that can be hammered will hold out against it, and the axe half cuts fast enough that you can drop the dedicated axe entirely.

The Axe still chops harder, so if Plantera has already handed you one there is no reason to retire it for felling large trees. What the hamaxe wins on is reach, and that gap shows up most when you are stripping background walls off a cavern wall by wall. A few extra tiles per swing means fewer jumps, fewer repositions and a noticeably faster clear on a big excavation.

All four fragment versions behave identically, so build whichever fragments you have left after gearing up. Legendary is the nominal best, though rounding lands several of the speed rolls on the same value, so anything in that group is fine to keep. The solar version is fully lit in the dark, and every one of them glows when dropped or mounted on a rack.
