Hallowed Jousting Lance
Build momentum to increase attack power
How to craft it
your speed is the damage
Hold the button and the lance stays extended at a fixed angle, and what it hits for depends almost entirely on how fast you are moving when the tip connects. Standing still and poking at something is close to worthless. Everything about using it is about arriving fast: a quick mount, a dash fired the instant before contact, asphalt laid down the length of a fighting lane. The Shield of Cthulhu, Tabi or Master Ninja Gear, and the dash on Solar Flare armor all work because the burst of speed and the hit land at the same moment.
one hit taken and it folds
Take any damage and the lance retracts. That makes it good at sweeping through rooms of weak spawns and poor against anything that survives a pass and answers back, because you spend the fight re-extending. Feral Claws and its upgrades soften the problem, since autoswing readies the next thrust without another click. A Titan Glove in the chain helps a different way, by throwing things far enough that they never reach you.
the water launch
Momentum has no ceiling here, which is where the trick comes from. Dig a very deep pool, sink to the bottom with a Mollusk Whistle or an Inner Tube, and let the surfacing speed build the whole way up. Line a target up with that ascent and the numbers stop being reasonable. Set up properly, it removes a Dungeon Guardian in a single contact.
point it up or down
Held straight up or straight down, the lance has a far taller hitbox than it does horizontally, which is the easy answer to fliers and to anything that will not hold a line while you charge. Aiming it downward on the way down a hellevator has a second use: cobwebs stop slowing the fall, so a spider nest becomes a corridor you clear on the way through rather than a soft landing.
where it sits and how to reforge
This is the middle rung between the Jousting Lance and the Shadow Jousting Lance, and all three play identically. Since your movement multiplies whatever base the weapon has, a fast player on the cheapest lance will out-damage a slow player holding this one, so speed gear repays you more than the upgrade does. Lances cannot take melee speed prefixes at all, which shrinks the pool of useful rolls. Godly and Demonic come out even, so keep whichever appears first.
