what walking on honey feels like

Closer to glue than to a floor. Your run speed collapses and your jump barely clears a single tile, so a honey surface is an easy way to pin yourself in place on purpose. Vertically it behaves like a climbable wall: press against a honey column and you slide down at a slow, controlled crawl with no climbing gear equipped at all.

using that deliberately

  • A honey shaft is a cheap descent for a long drop, no rope and no fall damage. It is slow enough that you will want something better once wings are on the table.
  • Enemies and critters ignore the slowdown completely, so honey does nothing as a trap. Put it where you want to be slow, never where you want something else to be.
  • Dangersense lights honey up in red, which is worth knowing if you have ever wondered why a harmless block was glowing at you.

To make a lot of it, pour honey across a flat floor and give it time to spread thin before you introduce water. A wide shallow puddle converts into far more blocks than a deep one.
