two kinds of entry in one list
This page holds every character the game tracks: the townsfolk who move into houses and sell things, the hostile spawns you meet in each biome and layer, critters, and boss entities. Filter by what you need. Townsfolk arrive from progression milestones, while everything hostile is decided by where you are standing and what time it is.
housing, and why someone moves out
Each resident needs their own enclosed room with background walls, a light, a flat surface, a seat and a door, and no evil biome creeping toward it. Build the rooms before you meet the unlock condition and they fill themselves at dawn. If a room stops qualifying the resident wanders off and will not return until you fix it. Three or more of them living close together also shuts down normal enemy spawns in that area outside the Underworld, which is the real argument for keeping a base clustered.
happiness is a price dial
Every vendor charges more or less depending on the biome you talk to them in and who lives nearby. Crowding is punished, so small groups spread across biomes beat one apartment block. A contented vendor with a neighbor close by also starts stocking the pylon for that biome, which is the fast travel network and the main reason to care about any of this. The Princess shows up late and is liked by everyone, so she patches an otherwise unhappy cluster.
